2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Obelisco Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
AVA: Red Mountain
Blend: 75.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5.4% Merlot, 19.2% Malbec
Vineyards: 100% Obelisco Estate
Barrels: 40% new oak; approximately 50% American, 50% French
Tasting Notes: Dark purple, red color. Sweet and spicy graham cracker, mincemeat, black cherry and black berry aromas with wet earth, vanilla and butterscotch pudding notes. On the palate this wine is full, rich and slightly sweet with blackberry fruit, mincemeat spice, toasted oak and hints of graham cracker, clove and vanilla. The mouth feel is lush and smooth on the entry, big and juicy on the mid-palate and finishes long with perfect balance of acid and tannins.
Cellaring: Because it is made from Red Mountain grapes this wine should age well for the next 15 to 20 years. Because it is mostly Obelisco fruit it is soft and inviting now.

Doug Long
Doug Long, one of the founders of Obelisco Estate lost his battle with Leukemia after a long fight in 2017. To all who knew him, he was an inspirational, warm, loving, welcoming, and gracious influence in their lives. Doug truly loved life and had passion rarely seen for his greatest loves. The first of which was his family, followed by his love of producing world-class wine. It was Doug’s goal to spread joy and a zest for life through wine. He knew that a special bottle of wine could make any occasion special. The enthusiasm he showed for all of his endeavors in wine and for the Obelisco Vineyard on Red Mountain mirrored his approach to life. His legacy will live on in all those he touched, the winery he created, and the good memories. His message is etched onto many Obelisco Estate bottles and that message is to “Celebrate Life”.
